Blessing Tree (2011)

This is one of my first impasto oil painting. I did the strokes using a plastic spoon instead of palette knife. This painting is inspired from a tree with various rainbow color leaves that I saw in my dream after I lost my late-grandfather to Parkinson disease. In the dream I was following my grandfather to this enormous colorful tree in a thick jungle. And then he turned to me and gave me a smile before disappearing into the sky in bright glow, above this tree. I take this dream as a blessing from my grandfather before he bids goodbye to me. This painting is sold to my director at work who has been collecting trees painting since then.
